Volunteer with Gender Justice League

Our volunteers provide critical capacity to our advocacy, direct service, and community-building work to uplift TwoSpirit, Trans, & Gender Diverse communities. Our volunteers have helped to:

  • Advocate for policies that protect + affirm Trans life including policies around housing, healthcare, police accountability, and sex worker safety
  • Organize + produce Trans Pride Seattle, one of so few sacred Trans spaces
  • Create and maintain resource guides to help community members access basic needs, community connections, life-saving resources, and mutual aid
  • Plan + execute legal clinics which have helped hundreds of people with updating legal name and gender markers on identity documents

Our biggest volunteer opportunities throughout the year are Trans Advocacy Day, which happens annually around February, and Trans Pride Seattle, which happens annually in June (with planning beginning much earlier in the year). There are also many volunteer opportunities (both virtual and in-person) in the lead-up to these events, helping to to plan and make them as successful as possible!

Volunteer with Trans Pride Seattle

One of the largest Trans gatherings in the U.S., a community event like this couldn’t happen without volunteers! Volunteers make a huge impact on Trans Pride Seattle’s capacity to maintain a safe, fun, and accessible event for everyone to enjoy.

We need volunteers both virtually in the lead-up to the event and in-person on the day before, the day of, and the day after.

Volunteer for Trans Advocacy Day

Each year during the legislative session, our advocacy team organizes our annual Trans Advocacy Day, where we bring as many volunteers as possible to the Washington State Capitol in Olympia to talk to our legislators about the issues that matter to our communities.

At our 2025 Trans Advocacy Day, we brought 200+ people to the Capitol to advocate for safer schools for Trans youth,  access to healthcare, autonomy over our bodies, and other issues important to our communities. Next year, we hope to bring even more! One of our proudest moments was receiving a firm commitment from Attorney General Nick Brown’s office that they will file a lawsuit to halt the Trans youth sports ban—a huge win for our community.
